• Micronic (Dutch Weaves PDW and TDW) - The dutch weaves (PDW, TDW) are thick, strong; light-tight meshes which are used primarily in fluid, vacuum, and pressure filtration of liquids and gases. These are woven to precise tolerances and their openings are actually tiny curved, triangular tunnels.
• Micronic (Square Weaves PSW and TSW) - The square weaves (PSW, TSW) are woven with straight through square holes, are thin and flexible, and are often used in the separation and classification of solid particles. These square weaves have very high flow rates and square see through openings.

• Absolute Filtration Rating - A measure of retention, expressed in microns, that specifies the equivalent diameter of the smallest particle from which the filter has a retention of 100%. In actual practice, most manufacturers assign absolute ratings on the basis of retention in the range from 98% - 99.999999%.
• Nominal Filter Rating - A measure of retention, expressed in microns, that specifies the equivalent diameter of the smallest particle for which the filter has a retention somewhere in the range of 60-90%. Nominal filter rating is imprecise.
